In less than a week you will be two years old!! I can’t believe that we have had you in our lives for only two years. At the same time, I’m having a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact you can walk and run and express your feelings to us using your words.
I am writing this letter to you now because, while you may not be able to understand everything I am saying now, I want these words written down so you can read them over and over when you are able to.
Your dad and I are so proud of you and we love you so incredibly much.
Every day you astound us with your imagination, creativity and beautiful heart. I love the fact that you’ll start singing all of your favorite Frozen songs if you’re feeling comfortable and forget I’m around. I love seeing you learn new things and implement what you’ve learned on a daily basis. Your ability to problem solve is fascinating to me and is better than some adults I know
Just the other day we were commenting on your compassion towards others. You’ve seen me cry more times than I wish and each time you stop what you’re doing and check to make sure I am ok. Your dad just told me about the time when he was feeling extra tired one evening and you brought him a pillow so he could sleep if he wanted to.
Whenever I ask for you to help entertain M you always are willing. Remember the time when I said stressfully (she was crying while I was finishing something up), “Will you dance and sing for her, please!??” Without hesitating you walked right over to her and gave her a little concert. And sure enough, she stopped crying. She adores you already. I love the way she looks at you and I hope that the bond between you two grows as you get older.
You have such a light in your eyes…I hope it never fades and I promise, from the bottom of my heart, that I will do everything in my power to make sure it never does.
You make me want to be a better person. I don’t have the words to adequately explain how much I love you. Just know that I do, and that will never change. I am so thankful I get to be your mom and cannot wait to see what this year brings for you.
Happy [early] birthday, cutie.
